In these times of huge division in the world we all, including me, need to educate ourselves on the problems and struggles that exist for people from all different walks of life not just our own. Race, class, religion, politics and the list goes on in terms of the things used to fit us into defined boxes. All that does, in my eyes, is create more division between us by highlighting our differences.
I don’t have all the right words to talk about the current situation going on in the world right now or know how to help fix it. It’s a scary time. So, I resort to what I know and use art and creativity to express myself a little better. I created this piece I called ‘Love Unites’.
We may not get it right all of the time but the world needs a change in thoughts and actions! It’s everyone’s responsibility. We have to start by having open, honest and sometimes uncomfortable conversations about the issues that matter and support one another as human beings first and foremost no matter what ‘box’ a person fits into. Only then can we begin to understand each other more and move forward with love and not fear!
